Manipulated landscapes

10.000 years of change
An exhibition of the Graduate School "Human DCover Manipulated Landscapesevelopment in Landscapes"

edited by  Walter Dörfler

Man has always changed the landscape. He uses and designs it as his habitat, especially intensively over the past 10,000 years. In return, landscapes always influence how human societies develop. This interplay is shown in numerous examples by the Kiel Graduate School Human Development in Landscapes. Presented are projects in the fields of monumentality and rite, innovation and exchange as well as human and environmental change.
