The symposium "Arkæologi i Slesvig / Archeology in Schleswig" serves the scientific examination of archeology in the borders of the old Duchy of Schleswig and the present-day Sønderjylland region from the Stone Age to the present. Current excavations and research problems will be presented and discussed biennal. Our venue the Jarplund Højskole is located just a few kilometers south of the German-Danish border. The proceeds of the symposium are published every two years in the form of a small-format, colored publication in German and Danish as well as English summaries. For quality assurance purposes, a peer review process takes the form of a double blind appraisal. The organization of the meetings as well as the editorial and graphic processing of the print contributions is carried out by a team of six, consisting of three Danish scientists from the Museum Sønderjylland – Arkæologi Haderslev (Pernille Kruse, Lilian Matthes, and Mette Nissen), and three German archaeologists (Ingo Lütjens [Schleswig-Holstein Archaeological State Office], Ralf Opitz [Kiel University], and Tobias Schade [Tübingen University]).
The event organisation and printing are sponsored by the Museum Sønderjylland – Arkæologi Haderslev, the Schleswig-Holstein Archaeological State Office and the Archaeological State Museum Schloss Gottorf. The graphic and layout processing is ensured by the Institute for Prehistoric and Protohistoric History of the Kiel University.
The last symposium took place on 7./8.2.2020 at Jarplund Højskole,
the next symposium is planned on the 4./5.2.2022 at the same venue.
